A chronic skin disease that causes persistent redness over the areas of the face and nose that normally blush, mainly the forehead, the chin, and the lower half of the nose. The tiny blood vessels in these areas enlarge and become more visible through the skin, appearing like tiny red lines, telangiectasia. Pimples that look like teenage acne can occur. Rosacea occurs most often between the ages of 30 and 60, especially in people with fair skin.

Acne is the largest market segment of the dermatological diagnostics market accounting for 28.7% of the total therapeutics market followed by psoriasis (26.4%), rosacea (14.9%), and atopic dermatitis (9%). The overall dermatological diagnostics and therapeutics industry is forecast to witness tremendous growth rate and reach $38 million by the year 2013 with annual growth rate of 8.7%.
